In Japan, instead of having paper towels in the restrooms, women carry small towels in their bags which they use to dry their hands. They are no bigger than a washcloth and come in a variety of styles and colors. If you knit or sew, it would be easy to make in the exact color and size you want. • Congrats, Al Gore! Al Gore and the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change were announced the winners of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for their work drawing attention to climate change. Way to go, Al! After the win, listener Raven came across a great article about Al Gore and the IPCC called "Al Gore, the Nobel Prize and the End of the Beginning".
• Lead in lipsticks. A recent product test by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics found that more than half of the 33 brand-name lipsticks tested contained lead. Read their entire report entitled A Poison Kiss.

• She'll be jammin'. Beth is really excited about attending JamCruise, a week-long music festival that takes place on a cruise ship. It's a great event that strives to be as green as possible. A few years ago, they partnered with Trees for the Future, and for every $10 donated by a cruiser, 100 trees are planted to offset the CO2 of the cruise. JamCruise is also working with Blue Sun Biodiesel to develop a biodiesel fuel for the ship this year.
