This week's Teenie Weenie Greenie™ is to just say no to the phone book! Did you know that 10% of our landfills are old phone books? If you can't stop the delivery of the phone book, make sure you recycle them!

Teenie Weenie Greenieā„¢

This week's Teenie Weenie Greenieā„¢ is to cut down on waste, as well as use of toxic chemicals, by saying no to doubles at the photo shop, unless you really plan to use them. Instead of doubles, save the negatives that come with your prints, or archive your photos digitally. That way you can make reproductions later for images you really want.

A Chat with Amy Tucker

Amy Tucker, Inventor of the Xeko trading card game, calls in for an interview. The game is not only fun and educational, but the company is very eco-friendly. All the cards are printed on 100% recycled paper with soy inks. Xeko even has a recycling program that recycles the wrappers of their products. Now that's closing the loop!

Be sure to surf by Xeko.com - it's a wonderful, interactive website with tons of information and fun!

A Home Energy Revolution

Mike Tidwell calls the patio from Takoma Park, Maryland to talk to Dori and Val about how to start your own home energy revolution.

With a budget of $7,500, Mike Tidwell set out to cut his household CO2 emissions by 80 percent. By making changes such as installing a corn burning stove, switching to compact fluorescent light bulbs, line drying clothes, and investing in an extremely high efficiency refridgerator, he was able to cut his family's electricity use by 52%. For more tips, check out his organization the Chesapeake Climate Action Network and ClimateEmergency.org for those living outside the Maryland and D.C. area.
