Hip News and Finds

Finds:

  • Your new favorite accessory? A nice rack. Check out the Wine Rack, an ingenious device that allows you to bring beer to your favorite events. The best part? When full, you have nice new pair of knockers.
  • Consumer Consequences. Consumer Consequences is a new online game that explores whether or not the impact of the modern American lifestyle is sustainable in the long run.
  • Be the change. Check out the Be the Change! Share Your Story! School Video Contest. Kids execute an environmental, human rights, or social justice project and submit videos about it. The winner receives $50,000 in cash and prizes for their school.
  • Wind it up. The world's first wind-up MP3 player is now available, no batteries necessary.
Hip News:
  • Chemicals in the body. The Holland family signed up for a cutting-edge study to measure levels of industrial chemicals in the body. They were shocked to find that their 2 children, ages 5 years and 18 months, had chemical exposure levels up to 7 times those of their parents.
  • Did your state make the list? Forbes has released its list of America's Greenest States.

Hipster Hints Part 1

Skeptics beware! After her not-so-productive meeting with our local congressman, Val decided she needed to do some research. She wanted to be prepared to participate in an open dialogue next time she met an environmental skeptic. Dori and Val discuss what she found out in today's show.

Listener Emails

Once again, we have a bunch of great listener emails. Keep 'em rolling in at hip@greenfeet.com. And don't forget to post articles, links, and speak your mind at our MHTH forum!

  • Really small cars. Veggy Liz in NYC had a good laugh at Tiny Car Review, a YouTube short video about small cars.
  • Walmart, the musical? Beth wanted to let everyone know about Walmartopia, a musical about a world where Walmart dominates.
  • Expand your mind, feed the hungry. Kellie discovered FreeRice.com. For each vocabulary word you get right, 10 grains of rice are donated to feed the hungry.
